The new UK visitor visa fees

According to published fee tables, most UK immigration charges rose by roughly 6–7% from 8 April 2026. For visit visas, the old and new fees are:

  • Up to 6 months: £127 → £135
  • Up to 2 years: £475 → £506
  • Up to 5 years: £848 → £903
  • Up to 10 years: £1,059 → £1,128

The fee is charged in pounds sterling and paid at the time of application. Check the exact amount in Pakistani rupees on the application screen, because the rupee equivalent moves with the exchange rate.

Which visa should Pakistani applicants choose?

Most first-time visitors apply for the standard six-month visa, which is the cheapest option and is enough for a family visit, tourism or a short business trip. The 2, 5 and 10-year visas allow repeated visits, but each stay is still limited to a maximum of six months. They suit people who expect to travel to the UK regularly, for example to see close family.

Practical tip: A longer visa costs much more upfront, and a refusal does not bring the fee back. Apply for the longer route only if your travel history and finances clearly support it. A weak file on a high-fee visa is the costliest mistake.

Don’t forget the other costs

The visa fee is only part of the budget. Pakistani applicants should also plan for biometric appointment arrangements, document translation where required, travel insurance, and the funds you must show to prove you can pay for the trip. Always count these before deciding how much to spend on the application itself.

Be careful: Pay only through the official UK government application service. Anyone promising a “guaranteed” visa or asking for extra money to “fix” your case should be avoided.

How to avoid wasting your fee

Because the fee is not refunded after a refusal, the strength of your file matters more than ever. Make sure your passport is valid and your details match across every document, show clear proof of your job or business and your ties to Pakistan, and include genuine bank statements that explain where your money comes from. Keep your itinerary and accommodation realistic and consistent with your stated purpose of visit.
