Kyrgyzstan is quietly becoming one of the most attractive short-haul destinations for Pakistani travellers. It is a Muslim-majority country, roughly two and a half hours by direct flight from Lahore or Islamabad, with snow-capped Tian Shan peaks, the vast Issyk-Kul lake and yurt stays that cost a fraction of a European holiday. Best of all, Pakistani passport holders can apply for the visa entirely online through the Kyrgyz government’s official e-visa portal, with no embassy visit and no invitation letter for a standard tourist trip. Here is how the process works in 2026 and what to watch out for.

Do Pakistanis need a visa for Kyrgyzstan?

Yes. Pakistan is not on Kyrgyzstan’s visa-free list, so every Pakistani citizen needs a visa before travelling. The good news is that Pakistan is listed as an eligible nationality on the official e-visa portal, evisa.e-gov.kg, run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic. You fill in the form in English, upload your documents, pay by card and receive the approved e-visa by email.
