If you have been trying to book an Italy visa appointment from Pakistan and keep hitting a wall, the Italian Embassy in Islamabad has now spelled out exactly how the system works. In a public notice published on 25 July 2026, the Embassy laid out the correct booking channel for each visa category, confirmed that a waiting list is running for the busiest categories, and issued a blunt warning about agents selling appointments for money.

The official booking channel, category by category

The Embassy’s notice divides applicants into three groups, and the route is different for each one:

1. Short-stay (Schengen) tourist, business, family reunion and work visas. Applications must be submitted at the outsourced Italy Visa Application Centres. These operate in Islamabad, Lahore, Multan and Faisalabad for applicants from Punjab, KP and the northern areas, with Karachi and Quetta serving Sindh and Balochistan. Appointments are booked online through the service provider’s portal — the Embassy notice points applicants to the provider’s official website, and the centre currently operates the public portal at theitalyvisa.com. 3. Study visas. Students must first complete pre-enrolment on the Universitaly portal. Once pre-enrolment is confirmed, the visa centre contacts the student to schedule the appointment. Students should not try to grab a normal Schengen slot.

The waiting list is real — and it is not a dead end

Demand for Italian family reunion and work visas from Pakistan is far higher than daily slot capacity, so the Embassy runs a waiting list system instead of the old race for slots.
