Armenia Extends Visa-Free Entry for GCC Residents to 2027: What It Means for Pakistanis
If you’re a Pakistani working or living in the Gulf, Armenia just got a lot easier to reach. The country has extended its temporary visa-free entry arrangement for another full year, now running from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027. For Pakistanis who hold a valid residence permit from a GCC country, the US, the EU, or the Schengen area, this means no embassy visit, no visa fee, and no waiting for a sticker — just a passport and a residence card.
What changed, and who qualifies
Armenia first introduced this exemption on 1 January 2026, covering nationals of 113 countries — including Pakistan — who hold qualifying residence permits. On 7 July 2026, Armenia’s Tourism Committee confirmed the arrangement had been renewed for another 12 months, keeping it in effect until 1 July 2027. The rule is not based on your Pakistani passport alone. You must also hold a valid residence permit issued by one of the following, with at least six months’ validity remaining on the date you enter Armenia:
- United Arab Emirates
- Saudi Arabia
- Qatar
- Kuwait
- Bahrain
- Oman
- United States
- Any EU or Schengen member state

Eligible travellers can enter without a visa and stay for up to 180 days within a 12-month period. Your residence permit must be presented either as a physical card or as a sticker in your passport — a screenshot or expired card will not satisfy border officers. Armenian immigration has been running checks on arrival, so it pays to travel prepared rather than assume “visa-free” means “no questions asked.”

Pakistanis applying straight from Pakistan, without a foreign residence permit, are not left out — Armenia’s e-Visa system remains open and is processed fully online. A 21-day single-entry e-Visa costs around $8, while a 120-day e-Visa costs around $38. Processing is typically quick, and no embassy interview is required, which makes Armenia one of the more accessible destinations on the map for Pakistani travellers overall, whether or not you hold Gulf residency.

Armenia has been actively courting Gulf-based travellers, and officials have been explicit that the renewal is designed to keep that momentum going through 2027. Good to know: Visa-free entry is not the same as unlimited entry. Immigration officers can still deny entry if your documents look incomplete, so carry your residence permit, return ticket, and hotel booking together, not just your passport.
